Old Barn, New Floors, and Lasting Memories
Robert and Lindy are a great couple from Brighton, IL. They host weddings and receptions in an old barn that was built in (or around) the 1880’s. Although it isn't a structure that has been in their family long, they were lucky enough to be able to purchase it from the family whose relatives built it generations ago, so they know almost all of the history around it. Nice!
Lindy didn't think they would be hosting any events last year due to Covid, but when other venues started shutting down, they started receiving calls asking if they would host events. To date, they've hosted 3 weddings and 1 reception!
Their barn is a massive structure, so we can’t imagine the courage it required of Robert and Lindy to undertake such a large renovation. One of the first projects to conquer was repairing the floors (originally part Oak and part Southern Yellow Pine) , which were buckling in some places and completely collapsed through in other spots. What an incredible job they did with our southern yellow pine flooring! Just look at that grain y’all!
We absolutely love the way yellow pine tongue and groove develops character over time. We’re excited to think about all the memories that these boards will hold and the stories they’ll tell from the souls that dance over them in the coming years.
